Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio plays Jim Jones, the notorious cult leader who orchestrated the 1978 Jonestown massacre.
Leonardo DiCaprio will play a cult leader in the upcoming film Jim Jones. He is in final talks to play Jim Jones, the man who orchestrated the 1978 Jonestown, Guyana mass suicide, according to Variety.

Jim Jones (1931-1978) was a missionary who founded the People's Temple in Indiana (USA) in the 1950s, became infamous when he became the leader of a murder cult that caused more than 900 followers to commit suicide. in a remote area of Guyana, where he urged them to drink the extremely poisonous cyanide.
The film details Jim Jones' influence as a religious leader, rejecting traditional Christianity and self-identifying as God, according to Deadline.
As well as starring in the biopic, Leonardo DiCaprio will also produce the Jim Jones movie alongside Jennifer Davisson. The actor Titanic is no stranger to portraying historical figures on the screen. He previously starred in Catch Me If You Can as notorious con man Frank Abagnale and in The Aviator as Howard Hughes. His performance as border guard Hugh Glass in The Revenant earned him the 2016 Academy Award for Best Actor.
